This project will support the startup and running costs of microenterprises owned by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) , who are often marginalised from workplaces due to environmental and attitudinal barriers. Almost 27 million people are persons with disabilities (PWDs) – with physical disabilities forming a significant percentage. Mobility, thus becomes a huge barrier to their inclusion in society. NOWPDP has provided around 700 wheelchairs till date, yet wheelchairs remain largely inaccessible and unaffordable for the vast majority of PWDs.
This year’s floods have displaced over 2 million people (ECHO, 2025). Homes have been swept away and livelihoods destroyed, and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) face added challenges: evacuation is more difficult, mobility aids are often lost, and barriers multiply.
